Sophia Loren

Sophia Loren in Houseboat, In this film she plays this women who comes from Italy, who is in America with her father on tour with the orchestra. She seems to be this fun loving pearson, who simply wants to see America, she runs away after having an argument with her father and then meets Carry Grants son in the film. She goes to a fair and then takes the child home, she then becomes a nanny to the child and falls in love with Carry Grant.

She is very different to Grace Kelly because she's very sexual and speaks her mind and in a part of the film you see her spill water over someone. Which you don't see Grace Kelly do.

This clip shows her spilling water over a man.

Sophia Loren

Unlike To Catch a Thief, finding clips of Houseboat has been quite hard along with finding images, however with my knowledge etc i was able to bring things together.

Like the Firework scene, in Houseboat they use a metaphor to represent a sex scene, in this case they use a bell which can be seen ringing while the two kiss on the boat. They go back and forward to each setting a few times to show this is what its representing.

This scene shows how she uses her sexuality and flirts with what she has, which Grace Kelly doesn't really do however she does have a way with words. This another difference they have which is very noticeable in both films.

The Song

Prego prego
Anywhere you may go
Make each day be a day full of fun
If there's a game or a girl to be won
Do it with a Bing Bang Bong
A Bing Bang Bong
Presto presto
Do your very besto
Don't hang back like a shy little kid
You'll be so glad that you did what you did
If you do it with a Bing Bang Bong
A Bing Bang Bong

Be like Cristobol Columbo
Take a chance
Take a chance
Don't be a dopey or a dumbo
Gotta run in a trance

One step two step
Stepping through a new step
Live your life with a zip and a zing
You'll have the world on the end of a string
If you do it with a Bing Bang Bong
A Bing Bang Bong

A BING BANG BONG
This song was sang by Sophia Loren herself in the film, which I always remember about this film. She sings it a few times in the film getting other characters as well to sing along. This is another difference between each film, Sophia's character is a lot more free and fun unlike Grace Kelly.

The clip that features the song.
